"To the left to the left"
    A few things:

    - So... just out of curiousity... what do people think of this "Bomb Scare" (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/01/boston.bombscare/index.html)in Boston? Anyone wonder why we're the only city who freaked out about it? I'm waiting for one of the other cities to come forward and see what they think about this advertising campaign. I don't know how I feel about it... on the one hand, I can see where people might worry about it. On the other hand... I think this "Hoax Device" charge is a bunch of crap. It's not a hoax bomb - it's a real, live PCB with some LED's on it that's meant to advertise a show. In order to be a hoax, you have to IMPLY that it's a bomb, not a sign. What these guys should have been arrested for isn't this garbage "hoax device" charge - it should be advertising without a permit, which they did not have.

    - Funniest statement I've heard yet this week was from my brother: "Someone of my chub-osity should not be running around naked." If I still did the "Quote of the Day" on AIM like I did in college, that would certainly have taken the cake. :)

    - Steve's recovering nicely and he's starting to get a bit stir crazy since he's been home all week. He's played a lot of Zelda on the Wii. Monday we go in so he can get his cast taken off. That'll be a good time.

    - Work's not bad I suppose. It's getting a bit discouraging in here with some things that are out of my control, but at least my whole department feels the same way it feels like. It's not just me.

    - I wanna win the lottery.

    - I can't believe that it's only 4 months and 8 days until I'm Mrs. Athanas!!!!! I'm getting so excited. :)

Current Mood: You so crazy. :)

    Quick Update
    - I'm feeling better, I hate colds.

    - Saturday we went to Gillette Stadium to return/exchange a jacket that I got for Christmas and we saw the owner of the NE Patriots - Mr. Bob Kraft. He drives a Bentley. We also saw the buses that the players leave on when they go to away games, but could not stay long enough to actually see them get on the buses.

    - The reason we couldn't stay is because we had an appointment to go pick out and taste wedding cake. All picked out, flavor and design. We're psyched about it. :)

    - Work has been busy.

    - Steve has his foot surgery on Friday finally. (And there was much rejoicing)

    - I started my MicroEconomics class and the professor is absolutely insane. (Ronald Olive, before anyone asks.)

    That's about it! :)

    I Heart Vacation
So we just got back from 4 days in sunny Florida. 80 degree weather, one brief passing shower the whole time we were there. Then I get back and our cars are covered in a sheet of ice, there's so much ice on the trees that hang over the driveway that they hang down and drag across the top of the car, and it's going to be 20 degrees tomorrow.

Anywho... vacation was great. We arrived on Wednesday around dinner time so we picked up the car and drove to Kissimmee to find our hotel. It wasn't clearly marked so we drove halfway down 192-W trying to find it. Found it, checked in, and went do Downtown Disney for dinner. The hotel I picked out for us was literally 5 minutes from the Disney West Maingate, so it took all of 15 minutes to get there (we're used to staying on International Drive which is about a half hour away from the Maingate). We had dinner on Wednesday at this restaurant called "Bongos" which serves Cuban food. Very good...

Now, I promise I won't bore you with the details of our whole vacation but I have to mention Bongos because I have decided that I am no longer ordering a water with lemon. I ordered one at Bongos and instead they brought me a water with lime. It was so good. It's all I ordered the rest of the time we were in Florida, and I think it's what I'll order from now on. Mmm... lime.

Anyways... the rest of the vacation looked like this:

Thursday: Epcot day 1. We heart Epcot, so we decided to do 2 days of it. A lot of fun as always. We ate at the Biergarten in "Germany" for dinner that night, which is interesting because they seat you with random people like a "traditional Biergarten in Germany". We sat with a family from Houston who were Packers fans and had a great time. Tasty buffet. And of course we went on Test Track, Mission Space (the "green", less intense version because I'm a "wimp"), Soarin', Living with the Land, Maelstrom... it was a great day.

Friday: Magic Kingdom day. First things first we made a beeline for "Pirates of the Caribbean" because it was closed last time we were there. They did an awesome job updating it to reflect some of the things in the movie, and the animatronic Captain Jack Sparrow was awesome. Down to the quirky movements. We also caught a street show with Captain Jack later on in the day outside the ride and it was pretty cool. The actor they got to do the role could have been a dead-ringer for Johnny Depp - he wasn't, but I'm just saying. Splash Mountain was closed, which is a bummer becuase that's one of my favorites there ("Not the Briar Patch!!"). We did almost every ride including the Haunted Mansion which is Steve's favorite, saw Mickey's Philharmagic, and stayed late for the Wishes fireworks show, which was awesome. For dinner we did our first Character Dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern which was super fun. Another great day.

Saturday: Our Park Hoppin' Day. Animal Kingdom in the morning - first thing we did was follow the mass crowd of people to Expedition: Everest. It was awesome. SOOOOOO awesome. I wanna go on it again. We went on that twice (the second time someone in Finding Nemo: The Musical gave us their Fast Passes, which was pretty sweet). We also went on Dinosaur and did "It's Tough to Be a Bug" before park-hopping over to MGM. Once at MGM I got disappointed because one of my favorite rides was down for refurbishment - Aerosmith's Rock & Roller Coaster. 0-60 in 2.5 seconds or something ridiculous, all indoors with blacklights and it's just so cool. So instead we went on the Hollywood Tower of Terror which I love. We had an amazing dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby... amazing Cobb Salad tossed at your table, then I had this awesome chicken and we got dessert. I of course had a water with lime to drink. At this point I decided there's no such thing as a bad day at Disney.

Sunday: Epcot day 2. Spent more time in Futureworld this time and covered more ground. Did "Honey I Shrunk the Audience", Soarin', Test Track (twice!), Mission Space, Imagination Institute (with Figment), etc. etc. etc. My favorite show in all of Epcot was there - Off Kilter - it's a rock band with bagpipes, and they wear kilts. So of course I made Steve sit through it. Dinner at the Akershus in "Norway", and it was another Character Dinner this time with the princesses. We were greeted by Ariel, Belle, Snow White, and Cinderella. Caught Illuminations.

A comment about Sunday: So I wore my #39 Maroney jersey because I'm a big dork and I always wear my Pats jersey when they're playing. Steve was like "You're such a dork"... until we got to Epcot and saw SO MANY people wearing Pats jerseys. There were like 4 or 5 people gathered around Steve and I during the last 2 minutes of the game because we were monitoring the score on his Treo. GO PATS!!! :)

And... my souvenir from Florida: a cold. Yay!

So here's to a new year rich in opportunity and potential! Let's make it better than the last year...

Anywho... how was everyone's New Year? Ours was pretty good.

Friday we had over Tony and Shannon, some new friends we've made through church and had a good time chattin' it up. I made steak tips from The Meat House(http://www.themeathouse.com) because they're right in Salem - SO GOOD - and I got to use my grill pan. Then we had ice cream for dessert. It was a good time.

Saturday (30th) we attempted to go to Foxboro, but all of eastern MA forgot how to drive in the snow so we turned around and went home (too many idiots and accidents on the roads). We watched some Knight Rider... by the way - why did people in the 80's think this show was so great? The acting is terrible, the writing is hokey... for nostalgia and amusement value though they're kind of fun to watch. (Last night we watched "Not a Drop to Drink" which aired sometime in Nov. 1982, and we agreed that it was the corniest episode we've watched yet). Then we went to the 99's for dinner and used a gift card I got from people at work.

Sunday we went to church then came home and watched the Pats game - YAY for going to the playoffs, though I'm nervous about the Jets considering how they've played against the Jets this year. Sunday night we went to a party in Lowell at the home of a couple we know from church. There were a good amount of people there that we knew and some friends of theirs as well. Great mix of people, and we had a really great time. It was a potluck and I had my first attempt at homemade mac & cheese without a recipe; I made a cheddar cheese sauce and it actually came out pretty good. I surprised myself. Steve made his salmon dip which everyone loved, I was proud of my honey. :) We had a really great time, did the toast at midnight when the ball dropped, played limbo, listened to music... enjoyable.

Monday we had the day off. We were going to attempt to go to Foxboro again, but they were closed so we opted to sleep in instead. We spent a lot of QT together in a lazy manner - something we don't get to do enough of. Farted around Salem - Target, the mall - went home and I made dinner. And by made dinner I mean I heated up some of the leftover mac & cheese I made on Sunday (there was so much food we took some home). It was a nice day.

On a side note - our fish had babies again, only this time we've been able to watch them since they were like, barely hatching out of the eggs because of where they were laid in the tank. It's been really neat to watch this go through. Maybe this time we'll have more survivors. The last batch we had one survivor who we named Genie. He made it through the move and ended up being the only one who wasn't spooked by the whole ordeal. Unfortunately, because the other fish were very spooked Genie disappeared one day, and we believe he was eaten. We don't like to put them in a breeder tank because we like nature to take its course, but it'd be nice to have one survivor. :)

"Mr. President, I believe that says 'Quiche'"
That's the punchline to a birthday card I got once from Olivia. :)

Anywho... I hope that everyone had a good Christmas and Santa was good to them. Ours was good, a bit crazy but good. The Dexter Christmas Swap was a good time - a lot of babies though, a lot of babies. Christmas Eve wasn't bad except Steve got called into work for a couple of hours, but other than that it was good. I tried Egg Nog with Butterscotch Schnapps and it was quite tasty.

Christmas Day was good up in Plainfield - Steve's 'rents spoiled the crap out of us. They got him 2 nice sweaters and a "gift certificate" for a Nintendo Wii (whoever finds it first will buy it and then if it's Steve they'll give him the money back). They got me a nice Pats winter jacket (that I feel bad because it doesn't fit, so when we get the receipt Steve and I are going to go get one that does at the ProShop in Foxboro... oh darn) and a Laurence Maroney jersey (which I was psyched about... he might become my favorite player after Troy Brown retires). They got US a panoramic of Gillette Stadium the day the Super Bowl 39 banner was raised and "gift certificates" for the following things we'll need for the wedding: our toasting flutes, our guest book/pen, and a cake serving set. My parents (living in Tennessee and all) sent us a check to buy things we need for the apartment, so that's pretty cool too since we need a rug for the living area. :)

So among a couple of other things (3 DVD's, a nice heavy Pats floor mat), Steve got me a really nice All-Clad grill pan. I LOVE IT!!! Apparently the women he works with were giving him a hard time because he bought me a pan ("What are you, stupid? Buying her a PAN for Christmas?")... but they're dumb because I've wanted one for a while now. Every time we're in a store... "Maybe we'll get a grill pan for the wedding...". BUT... now I have one. It'll come in really handy with the spices that Sarah gave me from Penzey's. :)

So when are you all coming over for dinner so I can cook for you on my grill pan? :)

I got Steve a bathrobe (he really wanted one), Jim Cramer's new book, a subscription to National Geographic, a polo shirt with the Presidential Seal on it, Knight Rider season 1, and a clock that has the napkin on it from "The West Wing" (if you don't know what it is, Google it).

Alright people... leave me a comment telling me how your Christmas was, what you got, what you gave... I hope you all had great Christmases and I want to hear all about them!!! :)

    5 More Days!
Only 5 more days until Christmas! Does everyone have their shopping done? I think I only have a few more things left to buy, but I'm just about done. We were going to do some wrapping last night and then realized we were out of scotch tape - D'OH!

But yeah, just about done with shopping. Hopefully people will like what I got them. There are some people I have no idea if they'll like it, like my cousins Pat and Andy, but I guess we'll see. I'm 99% sure that Steve will like everything I got him, and there's only one thing that I think I MAY have to exchange. Christmas cards got mailed on Monday, so that's all set. Just a few more that I have to send out that I just got addresses for.

Oh yeah, I also got my NH license on Monday. That was easy-peasy.

So, what's everyone doing for Christmas? Our plan is:

Tonight (Wednesday): We're having a date! Dinner at NYA Joe's and then going to see "The Nativity Story".

Saturday: Giant Dexter Family Yankee Swap (that's my mom's side of the family). For those of you who have heard about my big family - this is the HUGE side. 23 people or so crammed into my grandparents' "Little Blue House". This is usually a good time. Everyone brings a $5 grab gift and my grandparents always have a few extra so everyone can participate. It's like, the one time of year I see MOST of my cousins so it's kind of neat. Weird is that a lot of them have kids now. Cara will be up too, so it'll be good to see her and Andy as well.

Sunday: Church in the morning, then... uh, I don't remember what we're doing after that. I think I may do some baking. Then it's off to my Auntie Linda's for the yearly Merrow (my stepdad's side) Family Gathering. As insane as it can get sometimes, this is one of my absolute favorite parts of Christmas. It's what Thanksgiving is to Steve's family - the one family event you just DON'T miss (provided you're not living in TN). After that I might talk Steve into maybe driving around to see some Christmas lights. :)

CHRISTMAS! This year we'll be spending it with Steve's parents. Still undecided if we're doing it up in Plainfield or at our apartment in Salem. We shall see. :)

    And on an ending note:
    Your Holiday Personality is Caring

You like to reach out to people all year long, but you're especially giving during the holidays.
Make those you love homemade presents (like cookies or scarves). Call someone who might be feeling a little down. Give to your favorite charity.

    Quick little Posty McPosterton...

We are moved in and 99% unpacked. Furniture delivery number one was a debacle and we had to pick out different furniture. We did and it's nice. Black leather couches that desperately need to be broken in... so you should all come and visit. :) Having a washer, dryer, AND dishwasher is amazing. Makes me feel spoiled, and as Steve says "The dishwasher alone is worth the price of admission".

Tomorrow morning we're getting a tree so hopefully that will help our Christmas spirit. The last month has been so nuts and this year has been mildly stressful so we're having a harder time finding it this year. That and it doesn't even feel like winter a little bit. I think that once we have a tree up and the rest of our Christmas stuff out we'll be in a better Christmas mood. That, and we have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" or "A Muppet Christmas Carol".

Tomorrow night is the Gleason Holiday Gala which I am super looking forward to!!!

Work isn't bad. I got a laptop and probably sometime next week I'll get a little thingy-do so that I can do work from home. I know that's not terribly exciting, but what I'm psyched about is being able to take this to meetings. :)

Still contemplating grad school though... maybe become a guidance counselor, which I always wanted to do. Gotta do it now before I have little ones. :)

    Church is good.

    I think that's it.

    Quick Update
    A few things...

    - We're moved in and almost all unpacked. Friday we're getting our washer/dryer, living room set, and internet. Then I'll unpack the pictures and knick knacks, finish arranging things with my honey and we'll be done. After that it'll just be getting the Christmas tree and doing all the Christmas stuff. :)

    - Looking forward to the weekend! Hanging out with Kristin & the "old" girls on Friday night, hanging out with Kristin and Kristen on Saturday for Christmas Card Extravaganza, finishing unpacking (and maybe getting a tree?). Sunday the in-laws to be are coming down and we're going to Atkinson for brunch and to show them the place. Then FOOTBALL!!!! :)

    - I got a promotion at work. So now instead of an "Order Administrator" I'm OFFICIALLY a "Customer Service Representative". Hopefully soon my boss will put out an announcement and when she does I'll be changing my email signature.

    - My new commute has decreased my drive time even though I moved to a different state all together. Which is pretty sweet if you ask me.

    - In exactly 6 months I'll be walking out the door to start the day of our rehearsal dinner!!! :)

    - In 6 months and 2 days I'll be getting the last touches to my hair done, and then getting ready to put on my hawt wedding gown to walk down the aisle and become a "Mrs.". So exciting.

    Tagged by Maria
Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things/habits about themselves. people who get tagged need to write a blog of their own ten weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. at the end you need to choose six people to tag.

    1) I have to push the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube, and if it's not exactly all pushed up I'll smooth it out with my toothbrush. Drives me nutso when the toothpaste tube starts to take on the shape of a bow-tie.

    2) I have to put a little pat of butter on leftover spaghetti/pasta (with red-sauce) or it doesn't taste right to me.

    3) I have a weird tendency to fall asleep during Pats-Dolphins games - no, I have no idea why and yes, even when it is a good game.

    4) When I eat chicken pot-pie, I like to save the chicken pieces for last.

    5) I can't fall asleep if it is completely dead silent in the room because it creeps me out.

    6) I have to fold clothes directly when they come out of the dryer because I hate ironing and will do anything to minimize the amount of time I have to spend doing it.

    7) I love anything that has chocolate and peanut butter together (Maria, I'm right there with you on this, so I'm keeping it.)

    8) I have to have some sort of beverage with me on my drive into work because I get bored and then think to myself "I would like to take a sip of my drink".

    9) I have a terrible habit of ordering the same things when I go out - restaurant specific (i.e. at Mama's I order chicken parm, at Grand China I order #20 with boneless ribs, at T-Bones I order country fried chicken or the turkey dinner, etc.). I'm trying to break out of this one. :)

    10) I clean the bathtub "topless" (read: pants/bra) because I use powdered bleach, and since I've ruined 3 t-shirts getting bleach on them, I gave up with the whole shirt thing. :)

Tagging: Kiki, Kristin, Laura, Chris, Carrie (I can only think of 5 people right now - so if you're not on the list and you're on my friends list, consider yourself tagged).

    Brief Update
We're almost all packed... mostly we have clothes, pots & pans, and food left to pack. That will all be later in the week stuff.

We're going over there today to get rid of the icky yellow color in the "office" area.

I can't wait for the move to be over... because the actual moving part blows (any of you who have moved agree with me on this one).

We're going to be picking out our washer/dryer and living room set today as well. That's kind of exciting.

And... in 196 days, I'll me Mrs. Stephen Athanas. In a week and a half, we'll be going to Sears Portrait Studio to get our engagement pictures done.

All of the above are exciting.

    That is all.

    :)
